This container is a skill building, practice-rich journey, devoted to the art of process and centred around real time instruction.
Bringing a painting to life, from conception to completion takes many, many hours of deep focus, patience, listening, trusting the process, and creative risk taking.
As your guide, I will be supporting you through the entire process, while providing quality instruction from years of personal experience as a ritual artist, painter, and visionary creative.
We will be meeting online, beginning January 7, 2027
Once a week, for 8 weeks.
This container is perfect for beginner and intermediate level artists who want a container of learning, structure and guidance to support them from the conception of a vision through the birthing of it onto canvas.
We will be utilizing practices such as dream work, sitting with plant allies that support creativity and visionary depth, prayer and ritual / altar creation.
As well as covering acrylic painting techniques through a realistic lens.
This container is designed to guide you every step of the way, from conceiving a vision, composing your image, preparing your canvas, and bringing your painting to life, layer by layer.
Week 1
Conceiving the vision.
During this week, we will be introducing a favorite plant ally of mine, that I’ve found to be particularly potent in the realms of creativity and vision. This plant is Hawthorn!
I will be sending each group member a little package with homemade potions and plants to work with during our container.
These plants will be weaving with us through Dreamtime and meditation, and throughout our painting practice.
In week one, we will be activating our personal sacred spaces for our journey ahead, connecting with the land through offerings and prayer, and courting the spirit of the transmission that is wanting to be birthed through your painting. We will be diving into dream work practices and taking time to listen deeply to what wants to come through you.
Week 2
Composing and forming the image.
I will be sharing different practices, techniques and real examples to support you in creating the ‘sketches’ of your idea that will serve as the reference for your painting.
We will be discussing the elements that create an engaging composition, and then we will prepare our canvases for underpainting the following week.
Week 3
The first layers of the painting process.
This involves drawing / painting the outlines of our image, color blocking, and marking both shadows and highlights. I will be sharing techniques and instruction on how to create these first layers. After our zoom call, you will be expected to continue working on these layers throughout the week.
Weeks 4 - 7
Dedicated studio time.
We will be engaging in real time studio practice, working on our paintings alongside each other, in our virtual space.
I will be working on a painting alongside you, which will allow me to guide you through each part of the process with real time examples as we build up the layers.
Our zoom studio sessions will last up to 3 hours. I encourage you to stay and paint for as long as you can.
You will be expected to continue working on your painting through out the weeks, in between our studio calls.
Week 8
Our closing call.
This is a time to share our art with each other, reflecting on our personal journeys and offering reflection to one another. We will celebrate our artworks and close our space!
Your guide
Malia is a lifelong devotee to the magic, potency, and sacredness of art. While having attended a variety of art classes from pre-teen into adulthood, her journey with art has been mostly one of deep personal discovery and self-instruction.
Her art comes from a place of deep animistic connection to nature and ancestors, inspired by the myth and magic of the feminine.

No, you can be a total beginner. All you need is a strong desire to paint and a willingness to commit to consistent weekly practice.

If you can’t make the live calls, I will be sending out a recorded replay the following day.
There will also be a whatsapp group devoted to our container where we can stay in touch and I will be available to assist you with anything that arises.
While attending most of the live calls is highly recommended to get the most out of this journey, if you stay consistent with your painting practice throughout the weeks and utilise the WhatsApp group for direct support, you should be able to keep up with the group.
